If so, the Level D 767 is a must buy. In fact, the Steam Edition of FSX is on sale right now for $6. Has a ton of addons for sale too, a couple good planes like the Aerosoft Airbus collection.
LDS767 is hands down my favorite addon plane of all time - it’s starting to show its age a little lately as the 3D cockpit has a fairly flat look to it, but it handles amazingly well, the systems are complete and robust, and you don’t have to pay a freaking arm and a leg to buy it.Captain Sim has an FSX 767 but it’s nowhere close to the LDS product.
Hi, everyone,FSX:MS=original MS version of FSXFSX:SE=Steam version of FSXI want to report that I succeeded in installing the Level-D 767 in FSX:SE. I have a dual FSX:MS & FSX:SE setup. I started the install file, and pointed it to the correct FSX:SE folder. After install, I needed to copy the entry for the Level-D from the original FSX:MS DLL.XML file (in C:UsersYour NameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSX) to the FSX:SE DLL.XML file in.FSX-SE. You might want to back up your DLL.XML file in FSX:SE just to be on the safe side.I did a loop around SFO and an autoland at R28R w/ no real issues except that I had to tell FSX to turn on my joystick.
Very smooth but no addon scenery yet and only default AI traffic at this point.Mike. If only i knew what the entries should say. I am on a new install of SE after a fresh rebuild. Any change you would PM me what they say in your DLL.XML?NM got it.Hi, Scotty,Just for you and everyone else, you need to find the DLL.XML file, in C:UsersYour NameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSX-SE.In a dual install of FSX:MS and FSX:SE, I believe the installer doesn't find the correct address and file as I just gave it, even though you can point the installer to the correct location of FSX:SE.
This may or may not be a problem on a computer with FSX:SE only. Here is what the entry in DLL.XML should look like:Level-D SimulationsFalseFalseModulesLVLD.dllIf it's there everything should be good. If it's not, copy this entry and paste it into DLL.XML. Back up the DLL.XML file first. You can edit it with notepad. In that file you will see a bunch of entries starting with ' Make sure you paste the new entry on a new line right at the end of an entry ending with '.Mike. Ok tried it last night, and got the plane to load. The MCP is dead though, just blacked out.
Fsx Level D 767 Issues
Thanks though, one step closer.Hi, Scotty,Did you install the Level D by running the installer (actually two installers, the second is for the winglet version)? It is possible to point the installer exes to the FSX:SE folder instead of the normal FSX folder. Also, it is possible that something doesn't work right if you don't have FSX:MS (the original FSX) installed on the same computer. I can't tell as I have a dual installation.Mike.
No same as before. Just ran the 'winglet' 1.01 and same deal. MCP doesn't light up at all. Will wait for hopefully a fix.Hi, Scotty,Another possibility may be a missing simconnect.dll. There are several versions, but I believe FSX:SE does not install most of them. Apparently it is safe to install several; that is the case on my FSX computer.
Mine may be working because some simconnect.dlls were installed by FSX:MS and at least one by FSX:SE. You can tell which are installed by looking in Control Panel.I am no expert on Simconnect, but take a look at the following:A thread which discusses simconnect; see especially post#9:See also this thread on FSX:SE, post #19:FSX:SE provides installers for several 'legacy' versions of simconnect. They are subfolders of.SteamLibrarysteamappscommonFSXSDKCore Utilities KitSimConnect SDKLegacyInterfacesIn each subfolder you run simconnect.msi.Mike. Ok Mike all working now. I used the legacy simconnect for Sp1, and works a treat, Thank you!Glad to be of help!I thought that might be the problem since you have a separate installation of FSX:SE and I have a dual install, so the simconnect dlls were already on my system (they are in a subfolder of Windows, winsxs, not in a folder specific to either FSX, so either FSX will pick them up if they are installed). There are still some issues about where the Level-D is saving and loading panel states when a flight is restarted, but IMHO these are not major obstacles.
They may not affect you since you have a single installation of FSX:SE - the various Level D program files can't be instructed to point to various correct subfolders but in your case it may not matter since there is only one set of folders.Mike. To sum up:FSX:MS=original MS version of FSXFSX:SE=Steam version of FSX1) Run the installer for the Level D 767 and then for the Winglets version, pointing them to the main FSX:SE folder, typically.SteamLibrarysteamappscommonFSX2) See if it works by loading the aircraft in the usual way. Make sure all the gauges are showing up and working.3) If it does not, find the DLL.XML file, found in a typical installation at:C:UsersYour NameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSX-SE. You might want to back up your DLL.XML file in FSX:SE just to be on the safe side. You can open and edit it with Notepad. This is most likely missing with a dual FSX:MS and FSX:SE install on the same computer. If it does not have the following entry, copy and paste the following immediately after similar entries that should be there:Level-D SimulationsFalseFalseModulesLVLD.dll4) Try it again.5) If it still doesn't work, you need to install 'legacy' simconnect dlls (probably missing if you don't have a dual FSX:MS and FSX:SE installation).Go to.SteamLibrarysteamappscommonFSXSDKCore Utilities KitSimConnect SDKLegacyInterfacesThere you should see three subfolders.
Fsx Level D 767 United Airlines
Each one has a 'SimConnect.msi' file in it. For each folder, click on the 'SimConnect.msi' file in it to install that version of simconnect.
It is safe to install all of them, and indeed may make other addons work as well. You can also see which SimConnects are installed on your computer by looking in Control Panel - Remove Programs. For further information on SimConnect, please take a look at:see especially post#9,specifically on FSX:SE, post #19:There are still some issues w/ how the 767 saves and loads flights, but these are not deal-breakers for me.Thanks to Chalkman for his input!Mike.
